'Voodoo' Singer Songwriter from Canada

Voodoo, born Doug Simpson from Victoria BC Canada has been around the music scene for a long time. Starting my career touring and playing hard rock covers, I soon realized a talent for songwriting, and thus a recording artist was born. Picked up by RCA Records in 1984 with a deal to release singles (only one was my song)I was so sure I was on the fast track to stardom, however the dream was soon to be undone as I was shelved after several months like so many others. I did however get tons of airplay which afforded me the time, money and industry respect to keep on writing and recording. I continued touring with different bands but after a few years I grew tired of the bar scene, and felt my time would be better spent writing. In 1998 I was introduced to Paul Laine, an amazing artist producer who'd worked on his own records with Bruce Fairburn, had songs like Dorianna on much music, and was a studio singer and guitar player with The Scorpions and Aerosmith. I hired Paul to produce my 'Stormbreaker' cd and 2 years later 'Where Angels Run' At the time New Country music was HUGE and these records were my attempt to cash in on the frenzy of the time. They turned out to be a little too rock for that genre but to this day remain my favorite cd's.
After this I recorded 2 more records 'Treemonology' and my most recent and heaviest work 'In the Blood' I'm currently writing for my next record and it is my utmost hope that my fans continue to buy downloads to finance this new project which will be the defining jewel of my career thus far.

If you have never heard me sing before, I've been fortunate enough to be compared to great singers like Ronnie James Dio (Black Sabbath, Dio) and David Coverdale (Whitesnake) and even Paul Rogers (Bad Company,Queen). A lot of people refer to me as 'The Great Unknown' which is sad in some ways, but without a major record deal, I'm happy to be known at all!
