This autobiography "You Only Live Twice is raw and revealing. His recollections of childhood innocence are remarkable. The official book release date is Feb 17, 2010. It will be broadcast on http://www.blogtalkradio.com/artistmagnet at 9pm EST. Gumersindo will read portions of his book on the one hour segment hosted by Emmitt Thrower of Wabi Sabi Productions Inc NYC. He will discuss issues raised in the book about racism, family and surviving. Gumersindo postponed writing this book for several decades till the time was right. "Now is the right time", he says. He states that part of his inspiration for writing the book now was the need to get the message out to youth about the trapping of the ghetto. He is trying to prevent them from making some of the same mistakes he made as a young person. He paid dearly for his missteps.

The 190 page book has stories and images relating to the times that he grew up in the 1960's and 1970's. He remembers playing street games of the most dangerous variety. Jumping roofs and gang fighting. Games that he played an 8 year old alcoholic. He then graduates to the role of heroin addict at age 13 shooting drugs into his young veins. He had become another young lost junkie buried alive in the South Bronx hellhole. The book explores the 41st Pct (Fort Apache) that was corrupt as well as racist against the residents of the poor Black and Latino neighborhood. He accounts his personal experiences of racism and violence inflicted upon him by the local police officers.

He fought as a member of the Police Athletic league and used that to pull himself up out of the dark hole where he had been laying for years. He discovered there that not all cops were bad. That all white cops were not racist. A story where Love indeed saved his life and helped him get a 2nd chance to try and do it right. The book does have some surprises and dark humor. But it is truthful.

As rebellious as he was, he was a good person inside. He was always fighting to be better and to help his community. Even longing to be a Police Officer even after being assaulted by them as a kid. He has unveiled a journey that many who grew up in poor neighborhood as a minority had experienced similar things. He has tapped into the commonality of a shared experience. So his story is the story of many. A tour is in the process of being put together and checking the website will give you any updates or you can contact for info.

Gumersindo has partnered with Emmitt Thrower Founder and President of his not for profit production company based out of New York, Wabi Sabi Productions Inc a 501 (c). His company specializes in producing theater events, video, performances and programs around community issues relating to health, political and other social conditions. Focusing especially on at risk youth to help them survive through these difficult times. The program they are developing is called the Y.O.L.T. "Youth Survival Project." The program will be a national help resource project based on a performance model. Life skills training and education and referrals to support at risk youth issues will be a mainstay of the program. The book "You Only Live Twice" is central to the development of the project.

Emmitt a former NYC Police Officer and now Producer, Director and Writer believes that with so much violence among youth nationwide in the poorest sections of our communities we need to step up and do something. The government is not giving us resources. So we must begin working together with other individuals and organization. This can and will be a successful strategy to tackle these enormous issues. Joining with the youth and giving them the opportunity to help determine their future is another key element of the developing program.
