1-800-HANSONS Announces Winners of “Sing-a-Jing” Contest

(Free-Press-Release.com) December 7, 2011 -- TROY, MI – Three young singers from Michigan are receiving college savings bonds and are set to go on a shopping spree, courtesy of 1-800-HANSONS home improvement company.

The trio of kids finished with the top three online vote totals in the annual 1-800-HANSONS “Sing-a-Jing” contest, which encouraged Michigan and Ohio kids in grades K thru 8 to sing the company’s popular “Get it Done” jingle on video and upload them for viewing and voting.

The three winners and their prizes are: first place, Sarah Nelson, grade 5 from Commerce Township ($5,000 college savings bond and a $500 Toys R Us gift card); second place, Destiny Beard, grade 2 from Southfield ($2,000 savings bond and $300 gift card); and third place, Isabella Kucharczyk, grade 4 from Novi ($1,000 savings bond and a $200 gift card).

The winning kids emerged from over 100 videos submitted between September 26 and November 26, 2011. All voting was done online.

1-800-HANSONS, a home improvement company serving Michigan and Ohio since 1988, hosts the contest as a way of giving back to the community, said company founder and president Brian Elias.

“It’s not about finding the best singers, like ‘American Idol,’” Elias said. “It’s about engaging our communities and giving kids another outlet to have some fun and get creative, while also providing healthy competition.”

Elias said that he was “blown away” by the creativity and effort put into many of the videos.

Sarah Nelson’s school, Country Oaks Elementary, wins a $2,500 cash prize as a result of her first place victory. The second and third place winner’s school receives $1,500 and $1,000, respectively.
