100,000 hit charity cyclist is no April Fool
A charity project aiming to create the world's biggest football shirt passed 100,000 hits on April 1
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) April 2, 2010 --
No it's not an April Fool joke - the English-language version of the 'The Shirt 2010' had its 100,000th visitor on April 1 just as Bjorn heidenstrom reached Kenya.
Bjorn Heidenstrom, who is cycling from Oslo to cape Twon for the World Cup finals, has now been on the road for 284 days, creating content and spreading the word about the african refugee crisis wherever he travels. April 1, 2010 marks a big milestone both in the physical and the psychological sense as Bjorn reaches Kenya and, at the same time, the site sees a significant growth in traffic.
The top number of hits for one day, to date, was just over 2000 on March 3, but daily numbers are now averaging around 1000 hits. It is hoped that by the time the project reaches South Africa daily numbers will be in the thousands.
New supporting sites including www.justinworldcup.weebly.com and the Facebook campaign 'More Than A Game' are already directing new traffic to this site and, as interest in the World Cup grows in the coming weeks, we expect the final visitor numbers to top 200,000.
