100+ Students Earning Keys To Success To Recieve Gold T-Shirts For First Time At Trevista At Horace Mann School

(Free-Press-Release.com) May 11, 2010 -- DENVER, Colo. – May 7, 2010 – The GO FOR IT! Institute announced today that
about 200 students at Denver Public School Trevista at Horace Mann, who earned
keys to success, will for the first time receive gold T-shirts during a special ceremony
starting at 8:45 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 2010. GO FOR IT! curriculum used at Trevista
is credited with improving student learning outcomes and decreasing behavioral
issues.
The GO FOR IT! Institute provides teachers with the training and materials to teach

students how to be positive and to creatively think and believe that they can do
anything. The “Seven Keys to Success" include having a positive attitude, believing in
yourself, understanding how good habits are formed, making wise choices, setting
goals, using your imagination and being persistent.
“The difference has been dramatic at Trevista,” said Dr. Veronica Benavidez, principal
at Trevista ECE-8 at Horace Mann and first public school administrator in the country
to adopt the GO FOR IT! School Immersion Program. "We’ve seen a significant

reduction in behavioral referrals. This translates into more teaching time in the
classrooms. We're fostering stronger relationships, teacher to teacher, teacher to
student and home to school and throughout our community," she said. “This program
has been as empowering and positive for our teachers as it has been for our students.
Everyone can see they are involved in a culture where people — including students —
feel they are part of something important and that what they do matters.”
Benavidez reinforced that the majority of students who will receive gold T-shirts will be

from the third and fourth grade and fifth through eighth grade classes.
Ceremony Timeline:
Grades ECE-4: 8:45 – 9:30 a.m.
Grades 5-8: 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Special Guests: Meshach Rhoades, local Hispanic lawyer, activist, community builder and GO
FOR IT! board member. Bill Schmidt (L. William Schmidt, Jr.), counsel to law firm Holland &
Hart LLP, and recognized by 5280 Magazine as one of the "The Best Lawyers in America" and
as among the top 5% of Colorado lawyers its list of Super Lawyers.
The GO FOR IT! Program was created by Judy Zerafa, author of the first book on selfhelp

for young people. Following an appearance on The TODAY Show, Zerafa began
receiving invitations to speak to executives from Fortune 500 companies on the issues
of achievement and success.
To uncover the secrets of success, Zerafa asked 35 of the nation's most successful
community and business leaders, one question: "What do you think you know, that
nobody else knows, that allowed you to succeed to the degree for which you have been
honored?"
From that exercise, Zerafa distilled seven “keys” to success and created the Go For It!
Institute to empower children, teachers and families to achieve their dreams.
