Last month, the UK Government announced a new scheme to encourage households in rural areas with grants of up to £1,250 to install renewable heating systems to replace gas boilers. Brighton and London based engineers Ongas are supporting the scheme, which is called Renewable Heat Premium Payment.
The scheme has a budget of £15 million and is aimed at the four million rural households not currently connected to mains gas. The coalition’s Department of Energy and Climate Change is hoping the scheme will help up to 25,000 households to install greener options such as biomass boilers, air and ground source heat pumps as well as solar thermal panels. The scheme is available from now until March 2012 on a first come first served basis.
The engineers at Ongas are skilled at installing renewable energy options, such as ground source and air source heat pumps, and are happy to encourage households to embrace renewable energy systems that will help towards the Government’s target to increase renewable energy use from 1% to 15% by 2020.
Ground Source and Air Source Heat Pumps use latent energy from the outside air or energy stored in the ground to heat water systems.
