13.3 Million People Unemployed In U.S., LawCrossing Has Found Over 100,000 Jobs Across The Nation

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' report, nearly 100 jobs were added in the legal industry in November. It's good news that the unemployment rate fell by 0.4% to 8.6% in November. But the bad news is that still puts the number of unemployed persons at 13.3 million.

The seasonally adjusted figures included in the BLS report suggest that there was also an addition of 400 jobs in the sector in October. The hike in legal hiring has been encouraged over the past two months. But, it doesn't make up for the 1,200 jobs lost by the industry in September. In August, the legal sector also shed 300 positions. During July, the industry added 4,100 employees and this remains the brightest spot of the year. The net loss suffered by the legal sector in 2011 is 1,000 jobs and it is also down by 3,100 jobs since November 2010.

The drop in unemployment arrives four weeks before the scheduled ending of extended jobless insurance benefits. It is allowing some unemployed workers to actively seek for job in order to receive government payments for up to 99 weeks.
