Medina County Regional Pet Adoptathon Saturday, May 1st
Michael E. Kovack, Medina County Auditor, invites the public to the Thirteenth Annual Medina County Regional Pet Adoptathon hosted by his office and the Medina County Animal Shelter. It will be held on Saturday, May 1st, from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Medina County National Guard Armory, 920 West Lafayette Road, Medina. It is Free Admission and Free Parking.
“If you have been thinking about adopting a pet or wondered about a particular breed of dog or cat or wanted to see some great pet demonstrations, then May 1st is your day! This year’s event will be the largest one ever for the Adoptathon with approximately 50 shelters, pet rescue groups and pet-related organizations such as veterinarians and dog trainers there to answer your questions and help you find your perfect “forever” pet. Groups will have dogs, cats, puppies, kittens and even horses, available for adoption. Skunk Haven will join us for the first time. They will be discussing skunks with some de-scented ones available for people to see. Surprisingly, skunks come in several colors! It should be fascinating. I encourage you to come to this FREE event. You won’t be sorry.”
Among the activities planned for the day will be a pet blessing with Deacon Joe from St. Francis at 10:30. Please feel free to bring your pet to be blessed, to come to some of the programs available or to meet a potential new friend. All pets must be leashed or crated. Gold Star Dog Training will be providing testing for Canine Good Citizen Certification and for a pet’s potential for Pet Therapy. Both of those have a fee. The Medina American Kennel Club will be presenting a puppy match demonstration. There will be several speakers present to discuss a variety of topics. New this year, we will have an Authors’ Corner with two local authors for book signings. The authors are Sandra Athens, The Adventures of Foxy, and Christy Paxton, Hand in Paw Dog Training.
Rescue groups will be presenting information about the breed they represent. Raffle tickets will be sold for wonderful baskets and gifts donated by many of the participants. A professional photographer will be taking photos of pets and owners that day for a nominal fee.
Best of all, Saturday, May 1s, may be your day to bring home a new best buddy.
