About Providence Rugby
Providence Rugby Football Club (PRFC) is the competitive men’s rugby club within the Rhode Island Football Foundation (RIRFF). We are a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) companycomprised of local players from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, and compete in the New England Rugby Football Union- an affiliate of the United States Rugby Union. The RIRFF also sponsors the nation's largest collegiate rugby tournament each spring- the Beast of the East. We also host several charitable events each year for the greater New England Rugby community. PRFC is a cornerstone for the sport of rugby in New England, and we are continuing to spread into the community thanks to new and lasting support from area businesses.
The Providence Rugby Football Club (PRFC) was founded in 1969 by collegiate players from Brown University. Since that time, the club has captured the New England Club Championship on several occasions, and has represented the Northeast at the National level including two appearances in the round of sixteen. Since that time, PRFC has continued to recruit local and international players to further solidify our place as a top-tier club. As we prepare to enter another competitive season, we hope the entire Rhode Island rugby community continues to show their support as they have for over thirty years. In turn, PRFC will continue to showcase local and international talent right here in Providence for your continued enjoyment.
