2009 Emerald Indian LIS Research Fund Award results announced

The winning research project is titled "Social context of electronic library use in Indian academic and research organizations: an exploratory study" by Ms Swati Bhattacharyya, of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, India

Applications were to address the dissemination of knowledge for the social good with a specific focus towards the benefit of India.

35 high-quality submissions were received, making the decision of the judging panel an extremely difficult one.

Ms Bhattacharyya commented: “I am highly honoured and very excited to have won the Emerald Indian LIS Research Fund Award in 2009. I consider this Award as an endorsement by leading academics of the concepts used in my research. I am extremely thankful to the esteemed panel of judges who examined my proposal and selected it for this Award. Finally, I congratulate Emerald Group Publishing Limited for their involvement in this kind of scholarly activity.”

The Winner will receive a prize fund of £2,000 (approximately US $3,000 equivalent) to go towards her research project.
