2009 New zealand Hotel Receptionist of the Year

(Free-Press-Release.com) October 11, 2009 -- Eight regional finalist representing Queenstown, Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland competed for the national title. Candidates competed by under going a gruelling panel interview testing their knowledge on costs, profits, revenue, yield management, staffing level, structure, promotional ideas etc! This is followed by a skill demonstration (role-play) where candidates had to think on their feet to identify guest’s needs and matched them with the highest standard of customer care and professionalism.

The winner was announced at an awards ceremony that evening the two top candidates being:

Winner: Mia Visser of the Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa
Runner-Up: Susann Grünberg of the Langham Hotel Auckland

The winner may now go on to represent New Zealand at the AICR International Receptionist of the Year competition which will be held in Madrid, Spain in January 2010, if funding can be raised or a generous sponsor can be found. New Zealand won the 2008 AICR International title, and was runner-up in 2007, proving New Zealand is a leading force on the world stage in Hospitality
