2010 World Car of the Year shortlist includes models for every wallet
The shortlist for the 2010 World Car of the Year includes several models that are perennial favourites on the British car market.

The British-designed Vauxhall Insignia - one of the top ten best sellers in the UK car market in 2009 - is recognised on the shortlist.
Recent bad weather has spurred on sales of compact SUVs such as the Audi Q5 and BMW X1, which are also nominated.
Traditional small cars also get a look-in, with Volkswagen's new Polo supermini set to be a common sight on the roads; the with Mazda3 treading in the footsteps of a previous nominee and eventual winner, the Mazda2 ; plus the unorthodox the Kia Soul.
The Toyota Prius hybrid is the sole alternatively-fuelled vehicle, while the Chevrolet Cruze saloon represents budget models.
Higher up the food chain are the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Porsche Panamera, both large executive/luxury saloons.
The successful car will be announced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010.

The successful car will be announced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010, alongside the 2010 World Performance Car, World Design Car and World Green Car.
