2010World up news: Capello smiling after Champions League woe

April 12, 2010

2010World up is coming soon, all football fans are paying close attention to it. Here is a world cup new for you if you like.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) April 12, 2010 -- England’s recent dominance in the Champions League might be over, but the national side might benefit come the World Cup. (www.addwholesale.com)

With Chelsea already eliminated from Europe’s top club competition by Inter Milan, both Arsenal and Manchester United bit the dust last week. The Gunners were outgunned by favourites Barcelona and United were beaten on away goals by Bayern Munich - leaving England without a representative in the last four for the first time since 2003.

But while the disappointment lingers, England coach Fabio Capello could well reap the rewards. It will mean the likes of John Terry, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, Theo Walcott, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand will all be available for an uninterrupted England training camp.

England meet up in Austria on May 17th and the Champions League final is in Madrid five days later so it means, injuries aside, there will be no big-name absentees for Capello. This could have an impact on the World Cup betting markets.
England will prepare at altitude in Austria before meeting Mexico at Wembley on May 24th. The Three Lions’ final World Cup warm up is against Japan in Graz, Austria, on May 30th before their Group C campaign begins against the United States in Rustenburg on June 12th.

It means Capello’s preparations should proceed as planned, and some of England’s key players will be playing two or possibly three games less in the build up to the off in South Africa - a fact which has not been missed by defender Terry.

“We can take a very strong positive out of the fact no English clubs have made it through this season,” Terry told the Sun.

“Had one of our teams got to the final the squad would have had some very notable absentees for what is a big phase of our preparation.”

England’s World cup odds make them third favourites for the tournament, but the players will need to be at their best if they are to taste glory in South Africa.
