During the 117th IOC Session held in Singapore, on 6th July 2005, London has been selected as the host city of Olympics Games. After undergoing four voting rounds, former Olympic champion Sebastian Coe headed the successful bid.

The budgetary issues of 2012 London Olympics were the cause of huge criticism. In order to host 2012 London Olympics, nine cities submitted bid on 15th July 2003. Those nine cities were Havana, Istanbul, Leipzig, London, Madrid, Moscow, New York City, Paris and Rio de Janeiro.
