(Free-Press-Release.com) February 8, 2012 -- SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA – Registrations for the 2012 Medical Travel Summit, hosted by The Council for the International Promotion of Costa Rica Medicine, are still being accepted. The Summit will be held April 23-25 at the Real Intercontinental Hotel in Escazu, Costa Rica, close to excellent shopping, nightlife and a variety dining options.

The 2012 Medical Travel Summit is expected to break the 2011 attendance record of more than 500, and promises to be one of the most valuable medical tourism events of 2012. Registration for PROMED members is $400.00; $450.00 for non-members. Online registration is available at www.themedicaltravelsummit.com/event-registration.

Within the last decade, Costa Rica has become one of the leading destinations for medical tourism, primarily among Americans and Canadians. Novasans.com, a web site dedicated to international medical tourism, estimated that up to 100,000 medical tourists visited Costa Rica in 2010. The allure of medical travel to Costa Rica is the offer of high-quality dental and health-care procedures performed at savings of up to 50-70 percent over the same procedures performed in the U.S.

“Costa Rica is the most recognized medical tourism destination in the world and our reputation for excellence is growing every year,” says Massimo Manzi, PROMED Executive Director. The 2012 Medical Travel Summit is the ideal forum to learn more about the incredible medical tourism marketplace in Costa Rica, and to meet with some of the top doctors, dentists, clinics, hospitals and medical tourism businesses in Costa Rica.”

According to International Living Magazine, Costa Rica has the best health care in Latin America. Despite the fact that the country is continually investing in new hospitals, equipment, technology and medical-staff training, costs continue to remain on average about 30 percent less than in the U.S. As a result, Costa Rica is also attracting the attention of North American corporations, insurance companies, and administrators of private and self- insured corporations impressed by the quality and affordability of the nation’s healthcare.

“Self-insured corporations are beginning to realize that they can save 30%-60% or more on employee healthcare services by partnering with some of the finest doctors, dentists and hospitals in Costa Rica. Several American companies are currently saving hundreds of thousands of dollars every year, and are providing their employees with exceptional quality healthcare and amazing vacations in Costa Rica…all for significantly less than the same services in the US. Many companies are realizing that they can offer high quality healthcare and send their employees on an incredible vacation for much less than the cost for procedure alone in the US. Health benefits and vacation benefits combined for huge savings. We expect this trend to continue to grow for many years to come,” says Manzi.

The 2012 Medical Travel Summit will include workshops and seminars lead by international and regional speakers. Summit lecture topics will include:

• International Patient Management.
• Insurance Billing.
• Becoming a Medical Tourism Facilitator.
• Medical Tourism Marketing

Conference tours will include:

• Guided visits to hospitals, clinics, hotels and recovery facilities.
• “Health and wellness” tours to Guanacaste, La Fortuna (Arenal) and other regions in
Costa Rica.

The 2012 Medical Travel Summit is a tremendous opportunity for medical tourism novices and veterans alike to learn about the incredible opportunities in global healthcare, and to meet medical tourism industry leaders from the US, Latin America and around the world.
