There’s no doubt about it: the 2013 Malibu Eco is creating a buzz throughout the Chicago area. Drivers near Libertyville and throughout the northern suburbs are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the redesigned and extremely fuel-efficient 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco. This year’s version of the Malibu is different than previous models in a few ways. The most obvious difference comes under the hood. The 2013 Malibu Eco will feature a direct-injected 2.4L four-cylinder engine that works together with a 15-hp electric motor — together, they will achieve up to 25 mpg city/37 mpg highway. This will be the only powertrain option available when the 2013 Malibu Eco is launched sometime in the spring of 2012; however, at least one other engine will be available as the summer approaches. This additional model will feature a 2.5L engine that produces an estimated 190 hp. This line of 2013 Malibu sedans will given drivers the option between astonishing gas mileage and great power when selecting their next automobile.

Starting at just under $26,000, the 2013 Malibu Eco will come with several standard amenities to make it one of the most driver friendly mid-sized sedans on the market. For starters, four major equipment packages will be offered. The Power Convenience package features remote start, a rearview camera, a universal garage door opener, and a few other power features. The Premium package adds fog lamps, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a nine-speaker Pioneer audio system. The Leather package features all of the aforementioned amenities and adds leather seats and a power passenger seat. Finally, the Navigation package adds, not coincidentally, a navigation system to the front dash. All of these packages will be available when the 2013 Malibu Eco is released in the spring of 2012.
