Troy Honda in MI is excited to confirm that the battery-electric 2013 Honda Fit EV has officially been released for testing. Google Inc. and Stanford University have been given the vehicle as part of the Honda Electric Vehicle Demonstration Program to begin testing and report their feedback.
The 2013 Honda Fit EV, which first debuted at the 2011 LA Auto Show, is powered by a 20-kWh lithium-ion battery and 92-kW coaxial electric motor. It achieves a combined 76 MPG in the city and on the highway.
Google Inc. and Stanford will analyze the 2013 Fit EV’s CO2 reduction, energy consumption, and overall energy cost. Vice president of the Environmental Business Development Office at American Honda said, “The goal of the Honda Electric Vehicle Demonstration Program is to better understand the challenges and opportunities associated with the advancement in battery-electric technology.”
To carry out their research, Google and Stanford will compare the battery-electric 2013 Honda Fit EV to a gasoline-powered Fit. Findings from their research will be used to determine what customers do and do not like about electric vehicles and how best to overcome battery-electric obstacles.
Troy Honda in Troy, MI is looking forward to the results of this testing and to the arrival of the 2013 Honda Fit EV at their dealership. Drivers can visit Troy Honda today to test drive a gasoline-powered Fit and can visit their dealership on line at http://www.troyhonda.com/.
