2013 Panasonic Scholarship Program– Enrollment begins!

New Delhi, December 05, 2011: Panasonic, the global leader in innovation and technology, now offers an opportunity to students with a scholarship program. Panasonic which has initiated successful scholarship programs in India since 2009 invites participants from across top 20 engineering colleges to the 2013 Panasonic Scholarship Program. The applications for Panasonic Scholarship 2013 will open from December 1st. 2011 and will close on 31st March 2012.

The Panasonic Scholarship Program was established in 1998 in commemoration of Panasonic’ 80th Anniversary as a way for the company to express its appreciation to society.
The aim of the Panasonic Scholarship program is:
• To provide scholarship opportunities to privately financed students from Asian countries who wish to pursue master’s courses in Japan,
• To offer financial assistance to foster the development of highly educated experts who can contribute to the progress of their countries in the 21st century, and
• To promote mutual friendship between their home countries and Japan.

This exchange program provides a life time opportunity to the students to understand the Japanese culture, an encouragement of various social interactions for the future and get immense knowledge of leading edge-technologies.

The students should meet eligibility requirements of being an Indian citizen, must be graduates or pending graduates (in science/technology), and must have a desire to master the Japanese language for understanding Japanese culture. The criteria of selection are not only based on academic performance, but personal characters. On the occasion of this announcement, Mr. Daizo Ito, President, Panasonic India, said, “Panasonic has taken a step to partner societies across Asian countries to provide an opportunity to the fortunate students to advance their talent and skill sets by providing them a chance to pursue higher studies in Japan. We believe that promoting talent is the responsibility of every organisation and would play an imperative role in the growth of economy and in the development of society. We have had an overwhelming response from the students every year."

The students will be selected on the basis of their academic results, GPA, TOEFL and extracurricular performance. After exhaustive online tests, group discussions and evaluations, the short listed candidates will be announced by April 2012. The short-listed candidates are then interviewed by top management, Panasonic Global Group of Companies, distinguished professors, the President of the Panasonic Scholarship Inc. Japan, and a representative from the Embassy of Japan will interview and evaluate each finalist. The chosen three final candidates will be entitled for a scholarship package from April 2013, as Panasonic Scholarship nominees.

As part of the program, Panasonic shall support with 150,000 yen per month and tuition fee (a maximum of ¥ 200,000 to be paid per each half year) for the first year and for the subsequent two years, it will increase to 180,000 yen per month besides the tuition fee (a maximum of ¥ 250,000 to be paid per each half year) and entrance fee (a maximum of ¥ 250,000 to be paid)
