2nd Annual International Detection Dog Training Workshop

(Free-Press-Release.com) March 7, 2011 -- This is the 2nd annual detection dog training seminar hosted by A.T.S. K9, to be held on April 15, 16 & 17, 2011 in the Niagara Peninsula. This workshop features many Internationally known instructors who are experts in a variety of detection dog disciplines.

One of the main reasons for a Detection seminar like this is to have Canadians realize the value of detection dogs, used in Law enforcement, Search and Rescue, and other working dog fields.
In the United States, in the smallest State they have 1000 working dogs.

Across Canada with RCMP, Customs, City and Regional Police, OPP and QPP, Agriculture , Conservation, Fire departments and private organizations, Corrections, there are about 800 working dogs.
In every country of the world they have recognized the value of the canine, hopefully a seminar like this will help Canadians recognize the value of the canine as well

Sid Murray: Owner of A.T.S. K9 over 30 yrs. as owner, trainer, and handler of detection dogs. Mr Murray has worked throughout the US and South America providing detection dog seminars and contract searches to private corporations, government and Law Enforcement Agencies. Jeff Hopkins: Retired thirty two year veteran of the Police Service. He was a member of the K9 unit since 1989. His responsibilities included the training and maintenance of the K9 Unit, and the bi-annual certification of our teams. He has had the opportunity to train throughout North America and has assisted in the training of mine detection dogs in Bosnia, Herzegovina.

Bob Wright: Bob is a Shift Commander with the Niagara Regional Police in Ontario, A very active instructor at Seminars and Conferences throughout North America, Bob has provided expertise worldwide during his 15 years as a Canine Handler, Trainer and Canine Unit Supervisor. Bob has taught at seminars on Tactics, Problem Solving, Officer Safety, Firearms and Handler Selection.

Bernie Gauthier: Recently retired after 35 year career in law enforcement. Started with 10 years as a Police officer, performing regular Police duties in the Simcoe area. Then joined the Canadian Federal Government as Customs Officer with Border Services for the next 25 years. The last 21 years of service with Customs, were as a Detector Dog Handler and Trainer, specializing in Drug and firearm detection.

Dave Walker: of Search and Rescue Dogs Ontario Presentation and Instruction of selection, training, certifying and deployment of SAR Dogs. Dave has over 30 years of experience in Law enforcement and is a certified Police canine trainer/judge.

David Adebimpe of ScentLogix – demonstrating and talking on their products for the detection dog.

Fionna Wallace – Purina Rep. Speaking on the nutritional needs of the Police/working dogs.

Troy Morrison – FireK9.org from California, speaking on the Arson detection dogs.
