2nd annual sound for scoliosis

September 20, 2010

an annual rock concert to benefit the national scoliosis foundation.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) September 20, 2010 -- Scranton, Pennsylvania, September 14th 2010
A much wiser person that I once said that brevity is the soul of wit, so I will be as brief as possible. On the weekend of November 5th, 6th and 7th - Sounds for Scoliosis will return for its second time in the fine city of Scranton. Sounds for Scoliosis Inc. were originally held in 2009 and is proudly endorsed by the National Scoliosis Foundation (which is the reception of all proceeds/donations).

Sounds for Scoliosis are a multi-venue festival of food, drink and most importantly - MUSIC! This cause is a worthy and unfortunately often overlooked one. It is something that is dear to my heart as I personally suffer from the spinal deformity.

Scoliosis affects two - three percent of the population (or an estimated 6 million people) and there is at this time no cure. Scoliosis impacts infants, adolescents, and adults worldwide. The primary age of onset for scoliosis is 10-15 years old, occurring equally among both genders. However, females are eight times more likely to progress to a curve magnitude that requires treatment. Scoliosis can impact the quality of life with limited activity, pain, reduced respiratory function, or diminished self-esteem.

Sounds for Scoliosis 2010 will span a minimum of eight venues primarily located in the downtown section of Scranton, these venues are -

1. The Vintage Theater
2. The Irish Wolf Pub
3. Kildares
4. The Keys
5. The Bog
6. Andy Gavins
7. Whiskey Dicks
8. The New Penny
9. Hookah Lounge

The event will kick off at New Penny on November 5th.
The celebration continues the following night (November 6th) at Andy Gavins, Hookah Lounge, The Irish Wolf Pub, Kildares, The Keys, Whiskey Dicks, and The Bog (live entertainment at all venues).

And last but not least the grand finale concert (featuring over eight local/original bands) will be held at the all ages downtown venue, The Vintage Theater. In addition to live music starting at 5:00 pm and some fantastic coffee/espresso specials, The Vintage Theater will also host Katlynn Dixon and the incredible staff from Pax E Bonum from noon to 5:00 pm will be doing massages as well as Don Golaszewski who will be holding children scoliosis screenings.

Tickets to each venue will be $5.00 OR a hopper pass will be available for $10.00
Select venues will be pre-selling the hopper passes.
