2ndMe is to challenge Second Life Marketplace

Palo Alto, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) September 13, 2011 -- 2ndMe (or Second Me) – is an online-service, which offers a real-time transformation of a simple photo into a fully-customizable 3D-avatar, which can be easily exported into user’s blog, Facebook page or Second Life. For Second Life users 2ndMe also offers an alternative Marketplace, where they can purchase clothing, accessories and other stuff for their Second Life avatars.

For a precise 3D avatar creation, 2ndMe uses an innovative rendering algorithm, which allows not only to create a static 3D model, but also to add customizable elements to it (e.g. nose, eyes, ears, etc.), so the user can modify an avatar after transformation, if needed. A combination of sleek rendering technology and manual customization option leads to 100% user reflection in 2ndMe avatar.

2ndMe was launched in July 2011 and gained more than 4 000 users in just 2 month. The service is still beta and some features are not fully available yet. At the moment, visitors can create their avatar using a user-friendly flash interface, customize it & embed into personal blog, website or Facebook page, or export it into Second Life with free & paid items from Marketplace, if necessary. A real-time photo conversion is available upon a request, it is expected to appear on website by October 2011.

Besides adding online 3D-avatar creation tool to website, 2ndMe team is going to update their webpage, upgrade rendering technique, significantly expand Marketplace, provide a chance for third-party developers & designers to submit their own items to 2ndMe Marketplace and add export possibilities to other virtual worlds this Fall.
