3,000 Books Collected and Money Raised for Spread the Word Nevada

Zaba's Mexican Grill and Joe's Crab Shack hosted the Back-to-School Book Drive Extravaganza and selected Spread the Word Nevada to donate proceeds to the organization's children's literacy programs.

(Free-Press-Release.com) August 31, 2010 -- Las Vegas, Nevada – Joe’s Crab Shack and Zaba’s Mexican Grill hosted the Back-to-School Book Drive Extravaganza in honor of Spread the Word Nevada, a non-profit, children’s literacy organization. The book drive ran August 6th through 20th at all area Joe’s Crab Shack and Zaba’s Mexican Grill locations and continued through the two-day weekend event on August 21st and 22nd . On behalf of Spread the Word Nevada, 3,000 books were collected from private donors, which will be distributed to the local children served through out the Clark County School District.

The two-day weekend event at the Grand Canyon Flamingo Centre featured live music from various recording artists, BMX & Skateboarding demos, live auction emceed by Ron Futrell, and live radio by Mix 94.1. The second day included activities for children, which included face painting, arts and crafts, balloon artists, and raffles.

“We are honored to have been selected as a children’s non-profit organization benefitting from the proceeds raised from this family event. We are thankful to have community partners like Joe’s Crab Shack and Zaba’s Mexican Grill, who value education and advocate for children’s literacy,” stated Lisa Habighorst, Executive Director, of Spread the Word Nevada.
