Finding packaging for your product on the net can be a frustrating experience. You don’t want your product to look the same as everyone elses, you want to be a bit different so you can stand out from the crowd and make a statement…. right?
So you search the web and find some images of things you like, but haven’t a clue where to get them from, and if you do you find that they are frightfully expensive due to the fact that you only require a small amount – say, 500 or 1000 of them to get started.
Fortunately our PackageIt service comes replete with more than 150 different, off-the-shelf packaging options and dozens more custom options for you to choose from.
But – here is a tip – more choice isn’t always more helpful. There comes a point where all that choice just becomes overwhelming and unproductive.
A 10min conversation with one of our team at DuplicateIt who can listen to what you are wanting to achieve and then distill that conversation down to pehaps 5 options may, in the end save you time and money.
But I digress… I promised you 3 things you should always consider when choosing your packaging for your next CD or DVD product – but I lied – here are 5!
Use your Artwork to make the statement.
While custom designs are great, and we love producing them, you can save money and make a real impact by using an off-the-shelf package and use your artwork to make the bold statement.
Consider logistics and fulfilment.
If your product is to be sent via the mail, consider your more robust mailer / cardboard constructed cases as they will survive the trip in better condition than perhaps a jewel case will. If your item is being handed out in a seminar then vacuum formed albums are another great idea.
Size sometimes really does matter.
What is your product worth? If your point of sale price is higher then your customer may be a little disappointed if their product is simply a CD in a paper sleeve. Always match the packaging to the perceived value in the clients mind.
Break it down.
It doesn’t cost that much more to make a double disc pack. If you can break your program down into modules it has a higher perceived value and has a better chance of being utilised effectively by your clients.
Consider mulitple formats.
Essentially your product is designed to transfer information from one person to another. We all absorb information in different ways. Conisder creating your product in different formats to appeal to different customers and also increase the value of your product. From a packaging perspective then – you need to consider what it may mean to include a printed manual or a DVD video disc with your product.
