FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NOIDA, U.P, India, Republic of (Free-Press-Release.com) February 13, 2012 -- There is just a month left for the biggest state level MBA entrance exam of the year.MAH CET 2012, conducted by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2012. The application process is going on at present and will end on Saturday, February 18, 2012. With just 30 days to go for the D Day, you need to gear up to excel the areas which you need to struggle harder, as well as the strong areas, which you need to take to a higher level.

In this article of MBAUniverse.com, we will review the pattern of MAH CET which was seen last year and the tips to follow in these 30 days.

Last year, the paper threw a couple of surprises for the test takers. There were several question types which the test takers had expected and prepared but were not asked in the paper. These questions were on BODMAS, Probability, Permutations and Combinations, inequalities, Selection Criteria, Vocabulary, questions from Course of Action, Cause and Effect, Statement Assumption, Strong and Weak Arguments, Definitely Probably true/false questions from the Reasoning area and questions on coding.

Now let us have a look at the section wise highlights of the exam.

Quantitative Aptitude

There were 17 and most of them were based on Arithmetic and Geometry.

Data Interpretation, Data Comparison and Data Sufficiency

There were five questions each in Data Comparison and Data Sufficiency areas. The Data Interpretation section had 20 questions, with four sets of five questions each. One question was on line chart, one on pie chart and two tables.

Analytical Reasoning

There were 30 questions in this section. The questions were on arrangements of people, cars, circular arrangement, floors of building and square.

Other Reasoning based questions were on Input Output, Coding Set, Odd one out, Analogy, Visual Reasoning and Directions.

Verbal Ability

The questions in this area were from Reading Comprehension, Cloze, Spotting the Errors, Inference, Para Completion, Syllogisms and Statement Conclusion.

The other areas such as Verbal Reasoning, Visual Reasoning questions were quite tough in nature. They consisted questions on analytical and visual puzzles.

Overall, the paper was a difficult one. But generally the difficulty level of the paper remains lower than the MBA entrance exams like CAT, XAT, IIFT etc.

Strategy for one month

In this remaining one month, you should not start any new topic. You should now focus more on taking mock tests. According to Rahine Bose, MAH CET topper and alumnus of SIMSREE Mumbai, you should be taking around 20 mock tests in this one month and analyze them properly. “I would say that if one attempts around 20 mocks, does thorough analysis, the scores are bound to go up with higher accuracy,” says Bose.

You must be careful about managing your time properly. Since MAH CET doesn’t have negative marking scheme, you must maximize your attempts. But you should also take care of your accuracy. Though a wrong answer won’t reduce your scored marks, but it will hamper your chances of getting a high score. “It is a game of speed and accuracy. You have to look at maximizing score. The difficulty level is lower but high accuracy compensates that. Also there is visual reasoning section. But yes, basic concepts do overlap. So I would advise you to prepare for both simultaneously,” mentions Gaurav Mashalkar, Rank 1 holder in MAH CET 2011 and a first year student of JBIMS.
