http://stopubcanimalresearch.org/ WHY: Every year, the University of British Columbia conducts thousands of experiments involving animals, including pigs, mice, cats, rabbits, monkeys, and others. As reported in recent news accounts, in 2010 alone, UBC used more than 200,000 animals in research. Much of that research employs cruel, lethal procedures. Nearly all is done without public scrutiny.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that UBC's Okanagan campus was opening a new animal research facility. To date, UBC has not provided the public with any details about the experiments that will be conducted inside the Okanagan campus building.
The November 28 discussion with Mr. Vincent will give Kelowna residents an opportunity to learn more about the university's extensive animal research program, experimentation on animals across Canada, non-animal research alternatives, and participate in a lively discussion about this hot-button topic.
WHO: Sponsored by Students for Animal Awareness, a new student club at UBCO’s campus
