A cracked screen is the second most popular cause of death for iPhones, according to one consumer electronics insurer.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 25, 2011 -- A cracked screen is the second most popular cause of death for iPhones, according to one consumer electronics insurer. If the phone isn’t submerged in a washing machine, dropped down a toilet or soaked in wine (the most common way an iPhone is rendered useless is through water damage), it’s being dropped, smashed or run over. In one instance, the insurer reported a smashed screen caused by a cat paw. It was startled into action when the gadget began to vibrate with a new caller alert.

“iPhone screens are made from very hard glass which means they’re resistant to scratches but are still susceptible to cracking when dropped” explains Alex Hunt from iPod repair specialists, iPod Surgery. The internet-based company calculates that around 70% of its iPhone repairs are done on phones with a cracked screen.
While iPod Surgery has carved out a specialist niche quickly and effectively repairing broken iPhones and iPods, many other iPhone owners simply assume a damaged screen means the phone is out of commission permanently and resign themselves to paying out for a new one. With most iPhones retailing at £100 or more, finding a reliable, experienced iPhone screen repair service is much more economical solution.

iPod Surgery have been repairing IT products since 1998 and have established an up front, fixed price repair service. The cost of repairing a broken iPod or iPhone is quoted up front on the web site, allowing customers to decide there and then whether they want to repair or replace. Common falts such as cracked iPhone screens are repaired the same day, within three days or within five days, depending on the service level purchased. With iPhone 3G screen repairs starting at just £32, there’s a significant saving to be had compared with purchasing a brand new phone. The convenience factor also plays a role, with a repair meaning no loss of contacts, messages, photos or apps.
