(Free-Press-Release.com) November 11, 2010 -- San Juan, Puerto Rico (November 4, 2010) – This coming Thursday, November 11th, at 6:30 PM in Petrus Gallery, comes the launching of “MAJO Art & Design” is an innovative artistic project created and helmed by Sylvia Villafañe, experienced entrepreneur and owner of Petrus Gallery. After an extensive analysis during its conception, this project seeks the successful union between the Arts and Interior Design.

MAJO Art & Design comes as a response to the growing need in the art market for original pieces; work that accommodates itself to the specifications of the consumer – theme, color, size, etc. – all at an accessible price and whose craftsmanship remains loyal to the learned skillful techniques of the respected arts. These pieces will be created by seasoned Puerto Rican artists under the MAJO Art & Design seal, ensuring that every individual piece of work can flourish with attention to detail, technique, conceptual process and refinement, leading to well thought out and conceived works of art. In order to achieve this goal, every artist will employ materials of the utmost quality, the same tools used by the majority of professionals in the field of art. This concept will provide highly refined pieces, boasting in design, without being exclusively decorative. Said works will acquire value with the passing years and are meant to, over time, be passed down from generation to generation. Apart from working with personal and individual clients, the creative team behind MAJO Art & Design will also work corporative commissions with the same commitment.

This project joins the new and emerging tendencies that have shaped the recent Design and Interior Decoration market. Examples of these can be found in the affiliation of certain internationally recognized houses such as Baccarat, B&B Italia, Molteni and Knoll with famous architects and designers. Among these are Patricia Urquiola, Philip Starck, Jean Nouvel, Fernando and Humberto Campana, Karim Rashid and Frank Gehry; all invited to design and breathe fresh air into their product lines.

The easiness, with which this project can reach homes and other spaces, is what makes Puerto Rican art into a means to sensitize the everyday cultural and spiritual life of our country.
