Pubmission.com has just announced that memberships to its online submissions hub are now free for approved publishers and literary agents. The site is also free for writers who want to send their work directly to publisher members.
Pubmission describes itself as the online alternative to a paper slush pile or a crowded email inbox. For publisher members, it says that the web-based service saves admin time, reduces spam, and gives publishers more control over the submissions process.
Using a sortable submissions table, publishers can view the writing submissions with the best ratings from Pubmission editors first. They can also see which submissions have the highest percentage of keywords that match up with their own needs.
Pubmission operates as a submissions hub where writers and publishers can find each other in one place. Its goal is to reduce the time it takes publishers to hunt for writers who match them best. In addition to receiving direct submissions from writers, publisher members can search the site's database. They can also set reading periods and export all of their submissions to a spreadsheet file.
It’s also free for writers to submit their work to Pubmission publisher members. There is still a charge for extra features like Editor Ratings and Editor Coaching.
“This a tough time for the publishing industry,” says Wolf Hoelscher, owner of Pubmission. “But it’s also an exciting time because so many people are trying new things. Pubmission is just our way of making life easier for editors, agents, and writers when time and money are in short supply.”
To protect writers, publisher members must be approved before they are permitted to use the site. Pubmission does grant access to vanity presses or agents who charge reading fees.
