Created by Guy Paterson, Smiling Bear debuts with three strategic partnerships: Moonpig.com.au, Zazzle and the Australian Koala Foundation. Smiling Bear is a new character brand based on the feel-good Australian lifestyle and the universal message of SMILE MORE.

Background to Smiling Bear

Smiling Bear has been created by Guy Paterson, who has a long history in the art and design industry. His inspiration for Smiling Bear comes from the laid back, feel-good Australian lifestyle. The brand embraces a fun, positive outlook on life and has the infectious message of SMILE MORE at its core. The designs are full of personality combining cute, catchy slogans with striking graphic imagery.

Smiling Bear is actually a koala. “There is something memorable about the common confusion that koalas are not bears,” says Guy. “I wanted to play on that in the character name."

Smiling Bear is aimed primarily at junior through to teen girls, but plays to both older and younger audiences. Appeal spans far beyond Australian borders. A smile needs no translation, and the brand and its message resonate strongly with people around the globe.
