A New Service for Buyers of Artwork Online

(Free-Press-Release.com) December 13, 2009 -- ART-SMART is a new, online only service, that will give an opinion as to the likelihood the piece is real or not. Unlike most authentication services that judge signatures and autographs, ART-SMART makes opinions on the actual artwork itself.

The service works like this. Before you make an offer on, or buy, any artwork, you purchase the ART-SMART service. Then, after receiving the PayPal payment confirmation, you email your request for an opinion along with the eBay, or other online item number, and a brief description of the artwork. Then they research the piece to make a judgment as to whether it is likely genuine or not. An opinion will be sent by email within 12 hours of receiving the email request. If they are unable to make a determination, a full refund will be issued.

The service was conceived by the principle authenticator, Jeffrey Hauser, after he realized the amount of fake art was being sold on eBay and other online sites. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from

Pratt Institute in N.Y. and a Masters Degree from Monmouth University in N.J. He has been collecting, buying, and selling artwork since 1974.
