A Night at the Opera with the American Chamber Orchestra

westport, Connecticut, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) February 1, 2012 -- Saturday, February 11th at 8 PM. The American Chamber Orchestra under Music Director Christopher James Hisey presents its Winter Concert A Night at the Opera on Saturday, February 11th at the First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield at 8:00 PM. On the program will be an evening of opera featuring Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro and arias from Don Giovanni, Bizet’s Carmen Suite, Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus Overture, and selected arias from Dvorak and Leoncavallo featuring Stephanie Gregory and Ricardo Herrera.

Music Director Christopher James Hisey has conducted throughout the United States and Europe. He has appeared with the Ruse Philharmonic and the Plevin Philharmonic in Bulgaria as well as the St. Petersburg “Klassika” Symphony in Russia. Mr. Hisey is also the Music Director of the Civic Orchestra of New Haven and the Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestra. He recently joined the faculty of Manhattanville College as Adjunct Professor of Conducting and Orchestration and serves as Music Director of the Manhattanville College Orchestra. He is a member of the Nutmeg String Quartet and the Greater Bridgeport Symphony. He currently serves on the string faculties of Greens Farms Academy and the Westport School of Music.

Founded in 2003, the American Chamber Orchestra is comprised of serious musicians and music educators from throughout Fairfield, New Haven and Westchester counties. The mission of the orchestra is to bring high quality music to the community while promoting local artists. The orchestra has toured Austria, the Czech Republic, Italy and Scotland.
