(Free-Press-Release.com) December 20, 2009 -- A pioneering concept to guide young Jordanians INJAZ Organizes “ Technical Careers Day” Program

In an effort to enhance Jordanian youth opportunities, INJAZ, along with the Canadian International Development Agency, have joined together with the Ministry of Labor in gathering 250 students and their parents in a Technical Career Day. Saturday 12th of December, the “Technical Careers Day" program was organized in an attempt to improve the male and female participants’ knowledge of viable career paths that may otherwise have gone unnoticed, encouraging a broader view of the working options that young Jordanians have, especially in the technical fields.

The program was organized from 9:00am to 4:00pm at the Hyatt Amman Hotel, with five stations representing a cross section of the Jordanian employment sectors. Stations included representatives from the Pharmaceutical, Medical Laboratories, Aircraft Maintenance, Electrical and Jewelry industries. Several companies with experienced personnel represented each category like, Pharmacy One. BioLab, Imseeh Jewelry, Jordan Aircraft Maintenance Limited - JorAMCo. And LG Electronic, who were relaying valuable information to the curious students

A particular emphasis was placed on opportunities for women, identifying the various technical sectors where women could play major roles. The Career Day was designed to benefit students by presenting information from those who have been successful in their field. An open discussion was facilitated between parents, students and industry representatives, dispelling any doubts of the students’ abilities to participate in the represented sectors.

Remarking on this occasion, Dr. John Knapp, Policy Advisor/Project Manager for the Building & Extending Skills Training (BEST) Project (CIDA) said, “The CIDA project is pleased to collaborate with INJAZ on this important initiative.  There are exciting technical careers that may not be known by parents and students. It is important that people consider these careers as part of their personal plans.  Technical careers can be very rewarding.”

On behalf of INJAZ, Deputy CEO of Operations, Muhannad Jarrah, commented, “The focus will be on technical careers in Jordan. They have a great future but are yet to be discovered by youth. We aim to spread awareness on the career opportunities of the five sectors to over 200 7th and 8th grade students from Public, Military and UNRWA schools. We are very proud to be partnering with the Building & Extending Training (BEST) Project by (CIDA) and the Ministry of Labor. We look forward to cooperating on many future programs that will surely benefit our Jordanian youth.”
