Curt Walters returns to The Autry National Center in Los Angeles for the 2012 Masters of the American West Fine Art Exhibition and Sale this weekend.

A Return to the Autry for Curt
Light of the Moon
February 4th marks the opening day of this year's Masters of the American West Fine Art Exhibition and Sale at the Autry National Center in Los Angeles. Nearly 80 artists will be appearing at this year's invitational, including Master Artist Curt Walters.
Originally invited to display his artwork at Masters in 1999, Walters took home the Patrons' Choice Award that very year. In 2008, he won the highly coveted Trustees' Purchase Award for his painting "Splendid Turmoil," which is now part of the permanent collection at the Autry Museum.
Walters will enter four paintings into this year's exhibition. The largest is "Light of the Moon," a 30"x48" oil on canvas, showing a rare look at moonglow on the sheer cliffs under the starry night skies of Grand Canyon. The second entry is titled "Winter Sun on the Isis," an oil on canvas measuring 20"x20", which captures the fast moving light of a windy cold front as it passes over the canyon. "Last Day of Summer" and "Morning Before the Snow: Lake O'Hara" are both smaller plien aire oils on canvas board.
In addition to the Autry, Walters' pieces can be found in the Gilcrease Museum, the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, The Booth Museum in Cartersville, Georgia, The Forbes Magazine Galleries in New York, the Leanin' Tree Museum in Boulder, the Pierce Art Museum in Corsicana, Texas the and at the Grand Canyon National Park. This last October Walters won both the Gold Medal oil and Best of Show at the West Select Invitational at the Phoenix Art Museum.
His work is available at the Trailside Galleries in Scottsdale, Arizona and Jackson, Wyoming, the Nedra Metteucci Galleries of Santa Fe, New Mexico and at the Claggett/Rey Galleries in Vail, Colorado.
