A semi truck driver failed to yield at the stop sign and crashed into the pickup closes Route 6 in Wood County.

(Free-Press-Release.com) January 30, 2012 -- One man is in the hospital after being struck by a semi. It happened on US-6 at Henry-Wood County Line Road in Grand Rapids.

State troopers say they don't think the weather caused the accident, but it did prevent LifeFlight from taking off.

Troopers say a semi travelling southbound on the county road pulled out in front of the pickup travelling westbound on US-6.

The driver of the semi failed to yield at the stop sign and crashed into the pickup.

The driver of the pickup truck had to be extricated from his vehicle and was taken to Toledo Hospital with serious injuries.

The other driver was not hurt.

Crews on scene say the pickup was mangled, but they expect the driver to survive.

US-6 was shut down for over an hour.
