A Tea Boutique opens in the Neponset Valley of Massachusetts

Fancy That, a rental company since 2003 offering rentals of vintage china and glassware for parties and events announces the opening of A Tea Boutique in Walpole, Massachusetts. Fancy That’s Tea Boutique is a store where customers can shop for tea, imported jams, beautiful gifts and accessories in an inviting environment and a warm, personalized atmosphere. “I believe people will feel like they have walked into someone’s Victorian Home,” says Sarah Erlandson, proprietress of Fancy That.

With the opening of this new store, Fancy That’s Tea Boutique is poised to fill a void that was created when the Lyman-Smith Tea House and Gift Shoppe of Norwood closed its doors several years ago. The excitement over a new tea store in the area is apparent in the number of cars that slow down, pull into the parking lot, and folks who knock on the door asking when Fancy That’s Tea Boutique will be open.

“My love of fine china has been with me for as long as I can remember. When I was 8 years old, I walked to the center of town [Norwood Center] and excitedly spent my allowance on a trio (teacup, saucer, plate) for my mum. I guess I had the ‘china bug” even at such a young age, “Erlandson quips.

Erlandson’s Tea Boutique will feature over 20 loose teas including Tregothnan Tea – the only tea actually grown in England. In addition to offering teas and Victorian gifts, Erlandson, working with a local confectionist, has created her signature mini scone with lemon curd filling and white chocolate drizzle. Since a curd-filled scone is so unique, high tea enthusiasts are already standing by to place their order once Fancy That’s doors open in May.

Fancy That’s Tea Boutique is hosting an Open House on May 28th, 2011 to showcase the store opening, and provide samples of their signature mini scones and tea. The Open House will be from 1 – 4 PM and will be buffet style (it will not be a seated event).

“We will be having events at the Tea Boutique monthly,” Erlandson says with a smile. “Check Facebook or sign up on our web site for alerts, and you will be the first to hear when we are having another open house, or other event such as a tea tasting”
