But this year it has happened; the blue moon has risen over the city of New Orleans, œThe Big Easy. This February East and West will come together in a cultural exchange born of mutual respect for one another's beloved cultural traditions.
Throughout the month of February Americans will be flocking to œThe Big Easy for traditional annual events and celebrations. February 3rd excited football devotees will gather at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans for œSuper Bowl XLVII. Then, February 12th marks the Fat Tuesday of Mardi-Gras.
On the Western calendar this year the most important festival in Chinese culture, Chinese New Year, begins February 10th. Asians across America will be gathering for as many as 15 consecutive days in celebration of family and family unity and to usher in the œYear of the Snake on the Chinese Zodiac calendar.
Shaolin Institute, the premier Asian cultural and martial arts center in the southeastern U.S., has been invited to perform their world famous œShaolin Legacy Show at Super-Bowl 47parties and at several Mardi Gras events in New Orleans. The exceptional members of the œShaolin Legacy performance team are devoted students of Shaolin who have been trained by the highly acclaimed Grand Master Shi DeRu, and who travel around the country and the world by request for repeat performances of this visually captivating, stunningly choreographed, martial arts show.
The œLegacy Show captures the essence of the ancient Shaolin culture and way of life, incorporating its unrivaled martial artists to tell a timeless universal story. It is a show that has appeal and speaks to people of all ages.
The team will have its first performance February 2nd at 6:00pm at Tulane University. They will also be performing at Xavier University and at several Super-Bowl and Mardi Gras events.
