AARP says Baby Boomers may not be ready to retire?
The definition of retirement is varied. It could mean to withdraw, pullback and move away or backward, and this one: something or someone no longer useful or needed. An example would be, she retired that old coat.
So, fellow Baby Boomers do not retire. Find another path to walk upon. A place where you can learn something new, grow in unexpected ways, use your life skills where they are appreciated, help others in unforeseen ways and to challenge your talents and yourselves.
According to the AARP, Baby Boomers are planning to work longer, save more money and spend less to reach any semblance of the retirement they once envisioned.
Is being self-employed a new idea for boomers to consider? 10 years ago less than 10% of Baby Boomers worked for themselves, now self employed Boomers have risen more than 25% and that number is growing.
Owning a business is a great alternative to a depleted retirement plan, living out your withdrawal (retirement) in less than desirable circumstances. Keep your options open and take a look at having it all including a business to call your own.
