AbilityPLUS to Host Diana Golden/Mills Cup Alpine Ski Race, Sunday January 22nd at Mount Snow, VT
AbilityPLUS at Mount Snow, VT will host a learn to ski and race camp for Paralympic hopefuls and Soldiers wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan. This is an adaptive skiing event at Mount Snow, Vermont.

This weekend, AbilityPLUS at Mount Snow, VT will host an adaptive skiing learn to ski and race camp for Paralympic hopefuls and Soldiers wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan, culminating with its first Level I Diana Golden/Mills Cup Alpine Race on Sunday, January 22. The weekend events include training and preparatory events Friday and Saturday, with the Level I race being held on Sunday, January 22. Level I races are designed as introductory events for those disabled athletes new to the sport of alpine racing. The open Giant Slalom course is set for entry-level racers, who may compete in either the Diana Golden Division, for athletes with physical disabilities, or the Mills Cup Division Race for athletes with non-physical {cognitive} disabilities. Diana Golden athletes will compete in one of three categories: Visually Impaired, Sitting, Standing. For those wishing to participate, helmets are mandatory for all athletes. Participating athletes and volunteers are invited to share a home cooked pasta dinner at the Gray Ghost Inn in West Dover Saturday night.
AbilityPLUS will host an awards ceremony Sunday, January 22 for all participants at the conclusion of the race at approximately 1:30 PM. Race registration, coach’s meeting and the awards ceremony will all be held in the Discovery Building at Mount Snow, located next to the Drop Zone and large handicapped parking area. AbilityPLUS is in its 15th year of enriching the lives of program participants, their families, friends and a growing community of venues and volunteers who work to provide adaptive sports and recreation for individuals with all manner of disabilities. AbilityPLUS Soldiers For Soldiers program serves Injured Service Members with various injuries, including amputations, brain injuries, burns, visual and hearing impairments, all forms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other emotional scars.
