On Monday, January 14, 2013, attorney Stephen M. Fernandez presented a lecture to the Suncoast Chapter of the Paralegal Association of Florida on Florida's motor vehicle PIP/No-Fault law.

On Monday, January 14, 2013, attorney Stephen M. Fernandez presented a lecture to the Suncoast Chapter of the Paralegal Association of Florida on Florida's motor vehicle PIP/No-Fault law.

The presentation focused on recent changes to PIP which greatly restrict medical insurance benefits to people involved in automobile accidents on or after January 1, 2013. Mr. Fernandez covered topics and answered questions on a variety of issues including limitations on the types of treatment now available under PIP, as well as the new œ14-day requirement for receiving any benefits under PIP.

Mr. Fernandez had this to say,As part of a large personal injury law firm, every day I see the impact the changes to the PIP laws have had on accident victims across the state. It's important to help other legal professionals understand the challenges the new laws have created for injured accident victims and a a real honor to speak to the Paralegal Association members.

About Attorney Stephen M. Fernandez

Mr. Fernandez is a litigation attorney with Shapiro, Goldman, Babboni & Walsh. He frequently handles automobile accident, motorcycle and commercial trucking accident claims on behalf of accident victims and their families.

Stephen M. Fernandez received his law degree, with honors, from the University of Florida College of Law. While in law school he focused on courses relevant to the field of personal injury and trial practice. Mr. Fernandez was also an active member of the University of Florida Journal of Law and Public Policy. Prior to studying law, he graduated with high honors from the University of Florida with a degree in Political Science. He also earned minors in Business Administration and Environmental Studies.
