FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) September 24, 2009 -- Acoustic folk trio BIRDY will release their new CD "Journey Home" in October at the season opener of the Someplace Else Concert Series in La Grange, Illinois.

Founding members, Bianca Wesolowski Bevard (vocals) and Sharon Brunot Speziale (vocals and guitar), formed BIRDY back in 2007 although the two have been singing together for over a dozen years since meeting at the Highlands Presbyterian Church in LaGrange. Early this year, BIRDY welcomed Chicago-based percussionist Megan Thomas who brings a wonderful new dimension to Birdy's already established sound.

The trio will release their new CD Journey Home on Saturday, October 24th at the season opener of the Someplace Else Concert Series. The series takes place at Highlands Presbyterian Church in La Grange. Also appearing with BIRDY on October 24th will be The Pickin’ Bubs.

BIRDY performs a variety of music in beautiful two-part harmony. When you attend one of their shows, you can expect to hear BIRDY originals, traditional folk tunes, Celtic selections, contemporary music in a stripped down earthy style, a random Beatles tune, and a few other things thrown in for good measure. Some of their influences include Kate Rusby, Nanci Griffith, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, The Wailin' Jennys, hometown folk music hero Mark Dvorak, the Appalachian Mountains, and music they sang at church while they were growing up.

Lilli Kuzma, host of WDCB Radio’s (90.9fm) Folk Festival program says of Birdy, "Wow! I have heard - and aired - a lot of covers of this great traditional song [Poor Wayfaring Stranger], but yours is truly special. I expected the beautiful Birdy harmony, but was surprised by the overall arrangement - love Meg's djembe!" The group will perform live on-air at the WDCB Studios during Folk Festival, hosted by Kuzma, on Tuesday evening, September 29th.

The Someplace Else Concert begins at 7:30pm – doors open at 7:00pm. Admission is $12. Highlands Presbyterian Church is located at 1902 W. 59th Street, LaGrange. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will support the St. Cletus Food Pantry in La Grange. For more information, visit www.BirdyTunes.org or email Info@BirdyTunes.org.
