Across the Globe for Haitian Earthquake Victims: Michael Keister Leverages Assets to Make a Difference

(Free-Press-Release.com) February 17, 2012 -- Asheville, NC, February 6, 2012 – When a 7.0 earthquake rocked Haiti in 2010, there were an estimated 3 million individuals affected, and 1million were left without homes. When Michael Keister learned about the devastation, he was in Haiti within days of the disaster, supplying products, aiding where needed, and just getting to know the people whose lives had been so dramatically changed.

Being involved in the aviation industry for 25 years, Keister had the ability to leverage his own resources to provide aid to those in dire need. Not only did Keister donate his network of aircraft to be used in the relief effort, but also paid-for and donated 20 tons of cargo and 20 tons of food and medical supplies to earthquake victims. Keister also escort nearly 50 roundtrip flights himself to and from Haiti during this period of time, much of which was self-funded.

“It was never a question of “if” I should do this,” says Keister. “It was only a matter of how soon I could get there. It’s a devastating set of circumstances that forever changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. It was a blessing to me just to be there with them and see that even in their darkest hour, their spirits were not broken. I would have done more if I could.”
