FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 13, 2009 -- IRVINE, CA 11/09/09 – Orange Coast College Baseball held its annual memorial golf tournament on Monday November 9th at Strawberry Farms Golf Course. The event has been held for the past two years in remembrance of Pat and Phyllis, family of the John Altobelli, the baseball team’s head coach.

Many local baseball coaches, former pro players, and golfers came to play in the tournament under perfect conditions. “It started out a bit chilly but warmed up very nicely by the shotgun start,” stated Dr. Sebastian Gonzales of Huntington Beach, who donated his time to treat the players at the first hole. “Everyone seemed to have a great time. Not tons of competition, just enough to make it fun.”

“ I love working these things. You end up meeting tons of new people and the ones who actually want some help are very appreciative. I figure these people are here to support a good cause and I want to help anyway I can,” replied Dr. Cris Barkemeier when asked why he volunteers his time.

Although the event was originally in honor of the coach’s mother and mother-in-law, this year Orange Coast wanted to also honor the life of Jourdan Watanabe, a sophomore player. Most all the golfers sported an OCC ball cap with Jourdan’s number on the back, 22.
