2010 The Woodlands Township Election Questionnaire
Name: Adam Muery Age: 34
Occupation: Attorney primarily in civil litigation and international law
Position Sought: Township Board Position 3
Reason for running and what makes you the best candidate:
Merissa and I are thankful that we chose The Woodlands as the hometown to raise our three children and we say thank you to everyone who has worked hard making The Woodlands a great community. Unfortunately, though, crime has become a concern. There were alarming increases last year and that trend is continuing in 2010. There were 11 bank robberies in The Woodlands in 2009 which is over 700% of the national average by population. That is not a fluke; it is calculated strategy by criminals who recognize The Woodlands as an area with thousands of affluent citizens, a false sense of security, and woefully undermanned law enforcement. As a former U.S. Marine, Master Peace Officer and former prosecutor I felt called to serve. I want to make sure that The Woodlands is still a great hometown when my kids graduate 15 years from now. A board is a team and a team needs a diverse set of skills from its members. None of my opponents and none of the current board members have law enforcement experience and the board needs a team member with skills in this critical area. My professional experience as an attorney will also make me a valuable team member. I have experience advocating and negotiating agreements that are in our best interests as residents of this community. My ability to understand the legal issues and parameters our Township operates under will be an asset. Finally, as a 34 year old father and husband with young children, I will be the only board member to share a common perspective with The Woodlands largest demographic. .
