FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 30, 2009 --
Virtually everyone on the planet knows at least one other person who has a child that has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. This is because the prevalence of ADD/ADHD is alarmingly on the rise.
Recent medical research shows that ADD/ADHD is not a behavioral disorder; rather that it is a neurological condition where the left and the right sides of the brain are not working in synchrony. Research has also shown that the condition is directly attributed to the way the Frontal lobes process information.
This breakdown is apparent in the Cerebellum, the Thalamus and the Frontal Lobes.
The most common treatment of the condition these days is medication. Medications will temporarily dampen the effects of ADD/ADHD, but it does not address nor does it treat the underlying cause. This cause again is an electrical imbalance between the right and left hemispheres of the brain.
This is called a Functional Disconnection Syndrome.
To explain further, the electrical imbalance interferes with the ability of the two hemispheres to share and integrate information, meaning the brain cannot function as a whole. As a result the skills involved with the higher functioning side of the brain are sometimes unusually good to normal, and the lower functioning side of the brain demonstrates bad skills. The problems come about because one side of the brain is maturing faster then the other. As a child develops, this imbalance becomes more significant and the two hemispheres can never fully function as one. The brain is functionally disconnected.
