HAVRE DE GRACE, MARYLAND (JANUARY 15, 2010)— Father Martin’s Ashley, the non-profit alcoholism and drug addiction treatment center, here announced that they will now be opening their addiction education Family Programs to all.
Kristine Hitchens, ABD, LCSW-C, LCADC, Director of Ashley Family Programs commented on the news: “We are thrilled that we are now able to offer our three-day Family Addiction Education Program to members of the community. Anyone who has a family member who is battling alcoholism or drug addiction is welcome to register to attend, regardless of whether their loved-one is in treatment, working a recovery program or still in active addiction. It’s very important that family members learn the facts about the disease of addiction and learn how to get the help they need to lead healthier, happier lives. Our program offers important information, education and support from trained counseling professionals.”
Previously, Ashley’s Family Wellness Program was only open to the family members of patients enrolled in treatment at Father Martin’s Ashley.
In addition to the Family program now being open to the community, Ashley now offers special Workshops for family members. Two workshops are now available. The topics are:
“Dealing with a Loved-Ones Relapse” and “Couples Relationship Enhancement”.
The first workshop, which is designed for the family members of addicts or alcoholics who have relapsed back to active addiction, will be presented on Saturday, January 23rd. The second workshop, geared toward enriching the relationships of committed couples where one or both are in addiction recovery, will be presented on Saturday, February 27th. Both workshops take place at the Ashley Outpatient Center, 2 South Rogers Street
Aberdeen, MD 21001 at the Corner of Bel Air and Rogers Street
Those interested in registering for, or receiving more information about either the Family Addiction Education Program or either workshop may call: 410 273-2227 or go to www.fathermartinsashley.org and click on “community programs”.
