Ademero, Inc. today announced the release of Content Central™ version 6. The browser-based document management software has been enhanced for document hosting in the cloud, integrates fully with Microsoft Office, and allows guest access for temporary document viewing.
Hosting Documents in the Cloud
Being a browser-based application, Content Central v6 fits naturally within the cloud-computing environment. Its scalability and platform-specific features allow IT administrators to provide long-term document solutions with virtually no deployment requirements and minimal training. Ademero provides Content Central hosting services for customers through its subsidiary, Ademero Business Services.
“Content Central has been a hosting-enabled document-management system long before it was fashionable to be in the cloud," says Manuel Montesino, director of product marketing for Ademero. “A segment of our customers prefers us to host their Content Central server, and recent improvements to our platform have made these solutions even stronger."
Document Management Integration with Microsoft Office
From Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to Microsoft Word documents, Content Central's one-click editing feature now fully extends to Microsoft Office applications. Improved ribbon controls within Office applications allow users to upload new documents complete with metadata gathered from user input.
Users can begin editing an Office document from Content Central with a single click, which launches the Office application and checks out the document. After changes have been made, users select the ‘Update Document’ button from within their Office application to save the changes and check in the document.
Content Central supports Microsoft Office 2003, 2007, and 2010.
Sharing Documents with Guests
Temporary access to documents can be given to outside parties with ease through the use of Content Central’s new sharing feature. Administrators grant sharing permissions to selected users, and these users share documents by entering or choosing recipient e-mail addresses and providing an expiration date. Content Central establishes a guest account for each e-mail address and provides the recipient with complete instructions on how to access the content. Content Central automatically removes documents from these guests when viewing rights expire.
About Content Central™ Version 6
As a fully browser-based document management system, Content Central extends the boundaries of the traditional office. Tools for capturing, creating, accessing, and managing documents and other content exist entirely within the browser-based user interface. The server-based software package works well as an intranet, extranet, or stand-alone application. User workstations need only a standard Web browser to access Content Central in the office or remotely. This not only provides quick deployment, but also allows secure access to the server from any location.
Content Central operates on the Microsoft Windows Server platform and utilizes Microsoft SQL Server as its back-end database engine. Client access to the Content Central server works through browser access using Microsoft Internet Explorer®, Mozilla Firefox®, Google Chrome®, and Apple Safari®. A ready-to-use paper-capture application, Content Central provides an interface for in-browser TWAIN scanning and includes a barcode-generation tool for batch processing. Electronic documents and other content can be captured via drag-and-drop, e-mail, network folder, and XML descriptor.
Non-modular solutions and pricing are available for both the enterprise and small business.
