Aerial Photographers Flying High After Winning International Awards

(Free-Press-Release.com) March 9, 2010 -- The Aerial Photograph of the Year Award was presented to Stan Macbean of Orem, Utah-based Photographic Solutions, Inc., at the Professional Aerial Photographers Association (PAPA) International Conference in Houston, Texas, on March 6, 2010. The winning photograph is a sunset view of Delicate Arch in Arches National Park.

Each year, the PAPA International Annual Conference includes a judged print competition. The print with the highest overall score is named the Aerial Photograph of the Year, and the photographer is awarded a commemorative plaque. In addition to this award, Stan also received the following awards:

Best Air-to-Air Photograph, Judges Choice – A classic airplane flying in front of a snow-covered mountain
Best Commercial Photograph, Judges Choice – Temple Square at night at Christmas
Best Commercial Photograph, Peoples Choice - Temple Square at night at Christmas
Best Scenic Photograph, Judges Choice – Delicate Arch at Sunset

Although it is unusual for a photographer to win so many awards in a single PAPA Print Competition, it is not unprecedented. At the 2006 PAPA International Conference in Orlando, Florida, Allen Macbean, co-owner of Photographic Solutions, Inc., also won the Aerial Photograph of the Year Award, in addition to several other print competition category wins. This year Allen achieved his Master of Aerial Photography status. He was presented with the award at the closing ceremony and was also asked to take over as Print Competition Chairman for the Association next year.
