You have already started your blog and you are getting a decent amount of traffic to it. While it is fun to publish your thoughts on the web, wouldn't it be nice you got some money back for the time that you put into your blog? This can happen through the use of affiliate ads.
Affiliate ads are ads that are placed on your blog by other companies. As long as your readers interact with those ads, you will earn revenue from the affiliate ad company. While it may seem too good to be true to earn money by doing something you already enjoy doing, it is entirely possible. What is too good to be true are the claims that you will earn thousands of a dollars in just a few weeks. Most people don't see any significant returns from their blog's affiliate ads until they are really well established and even then you won't be able to quit your day job.
One of the most popular companies offering affiliate ads is Amazon. Com. Amazon gives you a button to put on your blog that, when clicked on, will direct your readers to Amazon's site. You can even pick certain books, music, or merchandise that you want to highlight, however, as soon as the reader clicks she will go to Amazon.
Amazon works on a pay-per-buy commission rate. This means that you get a commission if the person you send to Amazon makes a purchase within twenty-four hours of them clicking on your link.
There are other affiliate ad programs, including pay-per-click and pay-per-lead. Pay-per-click ads give you a payout every time someone clicks on the link that you have posted on your blog. This method was popularized by Google.
Their sponsored links section at the top and side of each search page is one of their main sources of revenue. Because their page is so popular, companies sometimes engage in bidding wars over the price they are willing to pay per click. Pay-per-lead advertising isn't so straight forward. The reader has to click on the link and then agree to sign up for something on the affiliate website. As long as they register their email address or other personal data, you get a commission.
There are many directories available to help you choose which companies you should approach for affiliate advertising. The first thing you should do if you are thinking of engaging affiliate advertisers is brainstorm a list of businesses that are best fit to the content of your blog. Unrelated advertisers will get fewer clicks and you will earn less cash.
Then you should check on the terms and conditions of the advertisers. Some won't allow you to become an affiliate partner unless your blog already gets a certain volume of traffic. You should also check their payment methods and schedule. After you have found companies to your liking, affiliate advertising can be as simple as uploading a URL on your blog. Use affiliate ads and start earning!
