AHS - SEHA celebrated International Nurses Day for entire month of May

Abu Dhabi – May 2011: Ambulatory Healthcare Services (AHS), a SEHA HealthSystem Facility, celebrated the International Nurses Day 2011 on two separate occasions with in Hilton Hotel in Al Ain last May 13, 2011, and at the Rotana Hotel in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi yesterday May 20, 2011. The theme for this year was “Closing the gap, increasing access and equity” inspired with the aim to recognize and value the efforts of nurses by honoring them for their hard work, commitment and excellence towards achieving success in healthcare services. 370 nurses were honored in recognition of their effort and commitment toward the patients.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Abdul Hadi Al Ahbabi, COO-AHS, said, "Nursing plays an important, yet challenging role in the healthcare delivery model. It is a job which is physically and mentally exhausting, but extremely satisfying on humanitarian grounds. We appreciate our nurses because they are dedicated to the well-being of the patients and to all those who seek their care. This gathering will be our expression of gratitude for their invaluable contribution.” He also added, “We are proud of the level of healthcare service that we offer and the key credit for this goes to the commitment shown by our staff of experienced nurses.”

Ms. Salma Alnuaimi, Head of AHS Nursing Services, said, “Nurses are the foundation of the nation’s healthcare industry. They not only offer care and comfort, but also serve as role models for improving the quality of healthcare.”

The celebration of International Day of Nurses indicates the universal appreciation of the nurse profession which highlights on its vital and basic role that is not less important than the doctor’s role in the medical care field. The external medical services sector is keen on the improvement of all medical services among all its medical centers in Abu Dhabi through Unique strategies, long term programs, and development plans which aim to improve the overall medical services, particularity the nursing services.
