Alaska Adopts NAIC Annuity Suitability Training Requirement

Newport Beach, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) November 18, 2011 -- Alaska has adopted a one-time 4 hour NAIC Annuity Suitability training requirement and a Product Specific Training requirement for producers who sell, solicit, or negotiate annuity products in Alaska. Producers licensed to sell, solicit or negotiate annuities on or before 10/16/2011 must complete a one-time 4 hour Annuity Training course before 4/16/2012 in order to continue to sell annuities. Individuals who obtain a life insurance license after 10/16/2011 must complete this training before selling, soliciting or negotiating annuity products. This requirement applies to resident and non-resident producers, and a substantially similar course completed in another state will meet this requirement.

The training deadline for the product specific training is 1/16/2012, and carriers are responsible for providing this training. Several groups are appealing to Alaska’s Division of Insurance for an extension on the deadline for the Annuity Suitability CE.
